Not Wanted
One of the advantages Avhich promoters of the newly formed farmers' co-operative meat company looked for when it secured an export licence was that its representatives would have access to many places that had been closed to producers in the past. Speaking at the last Executive meeting of the Auckland Farmers' Union, Mr C. A. Moore said that at the conference held in Wellington recently to fix the price schedules for meat the company's representatives were refused admittance and the schedule was arranged in a consultation between the export operators' representatives and the Minister of Marketing. It appeared, commented Mr Moore, that the Government was dependent upon the commercial exporting interests in regard to markets other than Great Britain and producers could get no details as to what prices were being obtained.
