KINDERGARTEN'S PROGRESS
Kindergarten, Avlio is engaged in events at the Auckland Gup meeting, is doing light work at Makaraka, Gisborne, but so far no attempt has been made to sprint him. According to Mrs K. N. Fitzgerald, wife of the owner, Kindergarten looks particularly well. There has been no continuance of the leg trouble that caused his withdrawal from spring engagements in Australia. Kindergarten was paraded at the Gisborne Show. IMPROVING The Wailcato owned thi-ee year old Peter Douglas, by Hazvat, raced at the Avondale meeting in a manner denoting that he is improving with every gallop. When cherry ripe lie Is a very capable galloper, and is quite likely to register his share of wins this season. THE G.N. DERBY After his victory in the Great Northern Guineas last month Regal Fox was acclaimed a logical certainty for the G.N. Derby, to be decided at Bllerslie in January. This month Battledress won the N.Z. Derby at Riccarton, and it is now considered that lie wil 1 prevail over nil comers, including Regal Fox. The latter competed on the first day fit EllersHe, but his lack of brilliancy was indeed noticeable. THE SPEEDY LLANDAFF By winning the two principal sprint events at the Avondale meet' ing, Llandall' again shewed his ability as a smart galloper. He is now being talked of as a good Railway Handicap proposition on Boxing Day AMI GO RECOVERING The Wanganui owner-trainer, L. Paul, has just had to bring the well performed Amigo through an attach of laryngitis. The horse is recovering, but will be unable to fulfil nea? at hand engagements. CHANGE OF LUCK The Wellington owner, T. Coltman, who lias not had the best of luck lately with his small team came to light at Riccarton with win? by Parchment and Haughty Winnet on the same afternoon. The wins were popular, as the owner is always recognised as a good losei when his candidates fail to score. FOR AUCKLAND CUP At Awapuni The Buzzer and Ok Bill are being put through a thorough preparation in view of the Auckland Cup. The first named wor the race three years ago, and Ok Bill acted as runner-up last year. As Beau Vite is. an unlikely startei next month the pair here noted wil! have a much easier task than wouki otherwise be the case. A CLASS CANDIDATE Indian Princess, a winner at the Avondale meeting is by Bulandshar —Love of Silver and is trained by Hector Gray at Takanini. She will be improved by her Ellerslic racing, and at the Auckland Summer meeting should be right at the top of her form. SHORTAGE OF RIDERS The number of candidates engaged at "the Auckland and provincial meetings is as large as ever, but just now there is not a Avide scope in respect to capable riders. With V. Dve and W. J. Broughton under suspension for six and three months respectively, and with H. N. Wiggins and G. Cameron in hospital for length}" periods it can be claimed that there is a scarcity of jockcys and this Avill be especially felt al the forthcoming holiday fixtures. A CAPABLE JUMPER Forest Glen, Avinner of the Clarkin Steeplechase, owned by Messrs T. C and H. W. Wilson, of' Hamilton, and trained by C. J. Carmont, is si five year okl chestnut gelding by Nasrani from Madam Lobalia, ami is destined to go on to further A'ictories. As he stays on Avell he is ex peeled to continue his winning run lor- some time
