HOME GUARDSMEN
TRANSFER TO E.P.S
CORRECT PROCEDURE ONLY
The following statement by Lieut. Col. J. H. Herrold, D.5.0., Aret* Commander of the Home Guard was made yesterday:—
Recently it has come to my notice that a number of Home Guardsmen have been approached andi told by E.P.S. officials 'that they are required! in the E.P.S. organisation and must leave the Home Guard. It is now necessary to publioally state that this practice must cease immediately and that no man can be released from his attestation from the Home Guard l under any circumstances' whatsoever without my consent. Home Guardsmen are warned therefore to take no notice what ever of any attempts to entice them fronj the Home Guard' organisation. ' The correct method to adopt by E.P.S.. officials when in doubt if a man is in the Home Guard, and consider he iis a key man necessary -to their organisation is for application to be made to the Guardsman's Battalion Commander who will
make the necessary recommendation to myself as Group Director and I sihall at aill tianes be only too ready to co-operate in any way possible but the correct procedure must be adhered to.
