PERSONAL

Messrs W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. (Waitomo), W. S. Gooseman (Waikato), Roberts (Masterton), J. Thorne (Thames), Williams (Kaiapoi), members of the Land Commission are visitors to the Whakatane district having inspected the Galatea Estate, and country in the Edgecumbe and Onepu districts. This morning the party is to be conducted through the Paper Mills.

Pte Trevor Burt, is on leave from Hopuhopu camp following two

months training in the territorials, and is spending a few days with his parents Mr and, Mrs H. W. Burt, Matata. Pte Burt has just received notification that he has been, accepted for service with the Royal New Zealand Navy and on Monday next is to report to the Naval Base at Auckland for three months training in radio work, prior to leaving

for service averseas. This is Mr. and Mrs Burt's third son to join the colours, the others being Sgt. F. A. Burt, Middle East Forces, who toolt part in the campaigns in Greec and Crete, and G. R. Burt, who is with

the R.N.Z.A.F. in England. Pte Burt was prior to his acceptance for

he Navy employed at the Whakaane Post Office.
