P. AND T. DEFEATS CENTRAL
TWO RUNS MARGIN
P. and T. slipped home to a first innings victory over Central last week-end in a low scoring match. The Central XI batting first were all out for 43 and with such a meagre total to better P. and T. should have had the game definitely "in the bag." However Phillips taking 7 wickets for 18 runs mowed down the home; sides wickets and the game was not won until the last wicket. BATSMEN GOME TO LIGHT
At the week-end Taneatua gained a four point win over Parca, thanks to the fine batting of \V. McC ready and Rowson who put on 55 for the first wicket.
Paroa, batting first made 148, H. Grant and Cleland opening well before Serimgcuc broke through Cleland's defence 25.1.14. Reid followed and the pair carried the scorc to G2 before Grant put his pads in front of one from Sykes. Grant batted. Avell for his 45 and lie id carried his to 40. also giving an attractive performance. Goile made a useful 15. Sykes was the most successful trumller —1 for 15. The innings closed at lunch.
After luSnch Rowson and W. SNIcCready opened for Taneatua, putting on 55 for the first wicket. Rowson made a useful 159. Thompson joined McGrcady and carried the
score to 97, before lie pushed one back to the bowler and was caught. 97.1.18. McCready continued his fine batting and was unbeaten at stumps for 78. Cleland bowled well for Paroa but without success in 13 over 8 being maidens. The scorcs were: —■ Paroa H.
