A GREAT TEAM

TRIBUTE TO THE LADIES

APPRECIATION OF WINTER

SHOW MEMBERS

"The Ladies, —God bless 'em," was

the theme of Mr A. J. Canning's remarks at one stage of the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Winter Show Association on Wednesday night. Mr Canning said the Association was indeed fortunate to have such a staunch band of workers, who had shown such an excellent return from their efforts. Mr F. B. Cutler also spoke stating that the amount of woirk done by the ladies was not realised by many. They donated practically everything for the stalls and tearooms under their control and showed an excellent profit. "The men do a little work and pay a su)j of 10/6 and that is about all most do, but the ladies really make a wonderful effort," he said. "What appeals to me more than the financial return, is the great way in which they work*." Thus spoke Mr B. S. Barry, who pointed out that the ladies toiled unremittingly at a task that was far from being an easy one.

Following a decision that a letter of appreciation be sent the ladies committee the president, Mr W. Sullivan, also expressed thanks to the stewards and the press.
