Mrs B. S. Barry is visiting Auckland. Mrs M. Chittenden is at present paying a visit to Auckland. Mr W. L. Mussett, who has been the guest of his brother, Mr J. E. Mussett, during an extended holiday in the Dminion leaves by air this week on his return to Malaya.
Pilot Officer M. 1. Millener, Ri.N-.Z. A.F., left Whakatane yesterday after spending short leave visiting friends iiv the town and district.
Constable G. Urquhart, who has been attached to the local Police Force for the past nine months, has received information that he is to take up duty at Tauranga shortly.
AI pleasant ceremony took place at the Golf House when the official closing of the season .was held recently. To mark the excellent performance of the president, Mr L. W. Lu'xton, in the club's open championship when he was runner-up to Mr C. Bailey, the Rotorua club champion in a hard fought contest, members presented him with a gift suitably engraved. It was felt thaf such a splendid exhibition was worthy of an, appropriate commemoration. •
