RACING NOTES
RELATED TO LARY TINKLE A two year okl highly assessed in the Wellington district is Deolali, by Bulandshar from Horomca, therefore a half sister to the well performed Lady Tinkle. At Gtald she ran second to Legal, and is confidently expected to get on the winning list very shortly. A HIGHLY BRED ONE Crucible from Tide Race from Pure Gold (a daughter by Psychology! and Desert Gold) won her Gtaki engagement in great style. Bred as she is in the purple, Hawke's Bay sportsmen expect her to make a name foi herself on the turf. KINDERGARTEN'S FUTURE Kindergarten's owner, Mr E. NFitzgerald, has decided that in future the horse shall be trained by lan Tinsley, the well- known Gisbornc mentor, in whose hands the Kincardine representative recehed his earh' education. The consensus of opinion in racing circles is not al all favourable to the horse surviving a thorough preparation so soon alter the tiring operation, but may possibly be performing at the Auckland summer meeting if the racing tracks remain on the damp side.
THE FIRST BROIEFORT A winner at Stratford was Broiefort Star, who is the first of the progeny of Broiefort to register a victorj^lfc^wZcaland. STILL ALIVE aM) HEARTY The bay gelding Oakleigh, one of the Dominion's best cross country horses, whose many victories included the New Zealand Grand National Steeplechase in 1922 and 1923, is still enjoying a life of idleness on the TVaLkato property of , his owners, Messrs G. and F. Peach. A TRANSFER TO ELLERSLIE Miss Wheriko, the surprise winner at the Rotorua meeting, is in future to be trained by W. S. Stephens at Ellerslie. SOUND JUDGMENT At the Trentham yearling sales of 1940 Mr H. D. Greenwood secured Salutation for 230 guineas and Bascule for 700 guineas. Salutation lias done her racing in Mrs Greenwood's colours and with one win last season and her wins in the Dunedin and Wellington Guineas so far this season she is well on the way to building up a grand record. Bascule took more time and his first winning turn was in the Heretaunga Handi. cap, the race following the Guineas at Trentham. It was achieved in such fine style that the Foxbridge three year old appeals as the likely Derby winner. racing fixtures NOVEMBER 10, 12, 15 —Canterbury Jockey Glub I—Napierl—Napier Park Racing Club ]7 —Waikato Racing Club 20, 22—Levin Racing Club 22 —Southland Racing Club 29 —Ashburton County R.C. 29, December I—Auckland R.C. 29, December 1— Feilding J.C.
