OUTPUT TO INCREASE
CHEESE MANUFACTURE AT
WHAKATANE
NEW VATS ARRIVE
It is understood that the Ran> gitaiki Plains Dairy Company last week received' three new vats for the cheese factory at Pupuaruhe, to reinforce the six vats which have been operating for the past month. This new equipment will be installed as soon as possible and further farmers will be called on to supply milk to the factory. As a result output should greatly increase. Some difficulty is being experienced owing to the short supply of milk cans, and recently the Company canvassed farmers to ensure that no one had spare cans in their possession. Suppliers were also asked to place any small surplus of milk supply in cream cans, while the company is making enquiries with a view to purchasing at valuation any 12 gallon cans, the largest size used for cream, to supplement the number of milk cans available. This can is half the size of the usual milk can (25 gallons) and may be found suitable for small suppliers handy to the factory.
