RAIN ON 24 DAYS

YEAR'S TOTAL MOUNTS

Rain fell on 24 days of October to register 6.92 inches according to the local ob'server, Mr H. Muscutt. In October of last year only ten days wer» wet and the total 3.36 inches.

The highest fall to be recorded in Whakatane for the month of October was in 1926 when 11.38 inches of rain fell, while in 1938 the month was the driest it has been less than one inch falling and the guagfc registering .86.

The total fall for this year to date is 46 inches, the figure for the same period last year being 36.99.
