When a first inspection of damage done at Messrs R. I*. Smith s and H. O. Caraway's offices was made following the fire which occurred on Saturday last, it Avas not thought that a great deal of loss) had resulted.

However, when the two. owners involved made a more- careful survey they found that, although the flooring and walls were not extensively burnt, many valuable and irreplaceable papers and records had been destroyed. To Messrs Smith and Garaway the act of the drunken man, who was responsible for the fire, has caused serious loss resulting in a great deal of inconvenience.
