EVER BEEN HAD?
LOTS of names of this life are misleading. Prussian blue,, the colour beloved of artists, originated in England, not in 'Prussia. Turkish baths came from Russia, and turkeys first came from America. Jordan almoncis do not grow on the banks of the River Jordan. The name is just a corruption of the Frenqh "jardin," meaning garden. Brussel sprouts never came from Belgium; neither did French beans come from France. York ham does not come from York, and Stilton cheese is made in Leicestershire. York ham derives its name from the letters "Y.C." a trade sign, and was just by accident that Leicestershire cheese were picked, up by the stagecoach at Stilton. If you're an Irishman you are not being patriotic by eating Irish stew —it originated in Germany ! Camel-hair brushes are made from squirrels' hair, camphor balls are made from nahthalene, and the lead in a pencil is graphite. Things aren't always what they seem, are they ?
