AWAKERI BRANCH

Mrs Luke presided over a well attended meeting of the Awakeri Women's Division of the Farmers* Union on Friday last. Much publicity has recently been given the change-over to cheese and perhaps the ladies can claim a little attention with their change-over to morning meetings, the understanding, being that they are required home much earlier for the afternoon milking.

Members learned with much regret of the resignation for health reasons of Miss Haultain who for the past eleven years has rendered a very valued service to the W.D.F.U. Housekeeper scheme and to those who required her assistance. .It is the hope of all members that Miss Haultain's health will soon be restored.

A motion of sympathy was carried in the usual manner to Mrs Luke who has recently suffered the loss of her mother, Mrs Stewart.

Luncheon, hostesses were Miesdames E. A'. Haultain, E. G. Haultain ancl K. Knight. Competition results were as follows: Best flower, Mrs Martin 1, Mrs Bloxham 2, Mrs L. Wilson 3. Frock to be worn by maker, Mrs Bowers 1, Mrs Bloxham and Mrs Kerr tie 2, Mrs E. C. Haultain and Mlrsi Maunder tie 3.

TANEATUA MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union was held on Tuesday, 21st, Mrs Hill presiding over a good attendance of members. Arrangements for the Division garden party to be heltl at Mrs Peebles home on November 13 were finalised.

Mrs Mitchell drew members' attention to the adult education lectures that had been arranged foF October 31 and expressed hope that members antl all others interested would make an effort to be present to hear Mrs Johnson. Mrs Hill distributed more patriotic wool for knitting up for so-ldiers, as die? M!rs Grace, the latter being as follows: Plain scones, Mrs Hill 1, Mrs Anderson 2, Mrsi Mitchell 3. Best lettuce, Mtrs Bennett 1, Mrs Mitchell 2, Mrs Prince 3. Flower competition, single flower, Mrs Bennett 1. Mrs Anderson 2, Mrs A. McGougan 3. Double flower, Mrs Yeoman I, Mrs Prince 2, Mrs Prideaux 3.

The hostesses were Mrs Moore, Mrs Doolan, Mrs A. McGougan.
