WANDERING STOCK
Sir,- —I was pleased to read that the Borough Council has at last decided to remedy the wandering stock nuisance, but I will, with man 3' other long suffering residents, be far more pleased when the Council does something about it! Already my garden has been greatly damaged by cows and this week a large, bull wandered into my section damaging the drive and flower beds. Worse, there is the danger of injury to children, as although the animal may have been a quiet one it might easily knock a toddler over with serious results. What is the use of teaching my children to keep off footpaths and roads if the council permits stock to wander or be driven along main roads and enter into properties. Perhaps you could tell me whftf the law is regarding stock being driven on main highways? Should not a bull be led on a halter? Also recently I was in James Street in the blackout and found my path barred by a cow. This animal appeared to be tethered on the r.oadside but nevertheless had sufficient rope to be a menace to pedestrians and motorists. While I am in a complaining mood surely the council can do something about those few who absolutely ignore the speed limit in Domain Road and King Street. There will have, to be a serious accident I suppose before action is taken. Yours etc., INDIGNANT MOTHETi.
