WAIMAMA NOTES
SUCCESSFUL NOVELTY EVENING
A most successful evening was held in the Waimana Hall last Thursday, the proceeds going to the comforts for soldiers who have left the district and are serving overseas.
Competitions, a trading stall, mystery parcels, etc. helped to swell the funds. Although the weather was most stormy, the public turned out in good numbers and all seemed to enjoy the function, and not worry abo.ut the rain outside. The farewell committee wish to thank all who gave donations of articles for competitions and monetary donations, and for produce and gifts for the mystery parcels. The sum of £33 odd was taken.
The music for dancing was supplied by Mr and Mrs King, and extras Avere played by Mr Graham YVardlaw and Mr M. Burke. Mr H. Wardlaw capably acted as doorkeeper. The novelty Monte Carlo was won by Mrs Sterling and partner. A. dainty supper was served by members of the. committee and dancing continued until a late hour.
