WILL SOON BE READY Good reports arc to hand from Wellington concerning the condition of Enrich, who in November last won the N.Z. Derby and C.J.C. Stewards' Handicap. When properly tuned up he is a brilliant perlormer, and if lie comes to Ellerslie at Christmas will not have to meet any Kindergartens.

BACK TO GISBORNE On the arrival of Kindergarten in Auckland from Sydney he was at once sailed to Napier, en route to Gisborne, where he will be given an extended spell. Probably by Christmas of 1942 he may again be competing with the Fitzgerald colour? up, at EUerslie. TO BE SE&T HOME The Wanganui owner Algerian was a contestant in the Epsom Handicap .von by Rimveil with High Caste second. He finished well back in tenth place and his party forthwith decided to withdraw him from the Metropolitan and other Australian engagements, and to book his passage home by the first available boat. It may be in the case of Algerian that like many New Zealanders in the past he will have benefited by his Australian trip. If this be so he will soon make amends for his Australian disappointment. AN UNUSUAL RECOGNITION During the winter months the well known Trentham trainer, T. George, transferred his team to Carterton, and at the Racing Club's recent fixture lie was successful in the principal events. A few evenings later the president and stewards of the club tendered to George and his boys a complimentary smoke concert, which function proved to be a very enjoyable one. IN A BIG WAY Trainer T. George, of Trentham, who in recent years has headed the list of Dominion winning trainers, will have no less than 17 candidates i:acin£j at the New Zealand Cup meeting, which opens on November 8. TAURANGI TRAINING ON The Beau. Pere mare Taurangi, since running second in the principal event at the Hawlce's Bay meeting, has shown improvement and is now the Wanganui Hope for the New Zealand Cup. She has proved to be a stayer, and if landed at the post fit and well on the eventful day, should race more than prominently. TRIED STEEPLECHASERS Both Bridegroom and Erination ure being kept right up to their work at Awapuni in view of the Wellington meeting this month. The latter is reported to be showing more dash than usual in his work, so may not yet be classed as a* complete "back number." SENT NORTH The three year old El Mahdi, who won the Juvenile Plate at Stratford twelve months ago, has now joined the team at Te Awamutu presided over by E. Murtagh. This trainer will now have one to take the place of the successful sprinter Corato. FIRST EDITION The Kincardine colt, First Edition, who scored at Te Aroha in convincing stayle, but who only registered a third at Paeron, is. bred on good winning lines. His dam, Sunny Sky, is by Hunting Song from Sunny Roe. by Sunny Lake from Merry Roe. by Soult —Sunny Sky was the winner of li' races for Mr l'itzgeruld, of Gisborne. She is a sister to Sunny Song, dam of the brilliant filly Duva-ch, and to the good winner Smiling Personality. Thus it will be seen that First Edition comes from a very successful family, and he showns promise of a fine turf career.
