SABOTAGE IN GERMANY

KRUPP WORKERS SHOT

According to A. P. LuseombeWhytc even Nazi Germany is not free of sabotage in munitions. "Forty workmen at the great Krupp armament works were recently shot," he saj\s. "Members of a secret workers' organisation, they had been mixing sulphur and other materials with the molten steel destined for U-boat sections. The result was that the hulls of new U-boats rapidly corroded in the sea water, and several submarines became unserviceable after a month at sea. The Gestapo discovered a ring-leader, and tortured him until he revealed his comrades.

Despite savage punishment meted out to unsatisfactorj- workmen at the "Umschulungslager" (retaining centre) which is now a part of the equipment of any typical large war factory, sabotage among German workers grew. Since th'c latest Nazi invasion it will grow even faster.

So many sabotage explosions have taken place in Austrian arms factories that Bimmler has made mass transfers of Austrian workers to German and Czech works, and vice versa. Thus he hopes to deprive the saboteurs of civilian help.
