VALEDICTORY

CALEDONIAN FAREWELL

MR AND' MRS FRED WATSON

THE GUESTS

Members of the Whakatane Caledonian Society gathered in the Winter Slioav Hall last Friday evening for the purpose of farewelling two valued members who will be greatly missed, in the persons of Mr and Mrs Fred Watson. The informal programme was made up of community singing, solos and elocutionary items, with Mrs F. E. Berry acting as pianiste.

Prior to a dainty supper, the Chief Mr W. J. Simons, in a neat speech presented Mr and Mrs Watson with a travelling case, and Miss Norah Watson with a pair of serviceable fJippers. He conveyed the Society's best wishes to the family and wished them luck in their new surroundings in Auckland.

Mr Watson briefly replied and said he and his wife would always remember the many happy friendships they had formed in Whakatane.
