LICENSE OBTAINED
EXPORT OF MEAT
FARMERS' UNION TO' BEGIN
At last Executive meeting of the Auckland Farmers' Union Mir C. A. Moore announced that the Meat Committee,, of which he was a mem • ber, had succeeded in obtaining ari export licence for a co-operative company the Union was sponsoring. In making the announcement he emphasised that the licence was only for a short period, which was not likely to be extended unless it were satisfactorily utilised.
In other words, they must haw the support of farmers in malting up a reasonable quantity of stock available. If each of the Union s members allotted even a small lot the aggregate would be substantial.
"We've got to step in and clean up the meat industry," said Mr Moore. "Otherwise the State will take it over." He paid a warm tribute to Mr A. C-. A. Sexton for valuable co-operation in conducting the negotiations for a licence.
The Executive passed a resolution warmly commending Messrs Moore and Sexton for the successful result of their efforts.
