OTAKI TO LEVIN As the Otaki racecourse is at present occupied by the military authorities as a camp, the next meeting of the Otaki Racing Club will be held at Levin. DEATH OF JERICHO The death of the Archery horse Jerichoi is reported from Canterbury. When racing some years . ago he broke a small bone in a fore-leg which necessitated his withdrawal from the turf. The best of his progeny was the brilliant Counterblast. RELATED TO SULEIMAN Neenali, winner of the Trial Plate at the Avondale meeting, is a halfbrother to Suleiman, being by Foxbridge from Quinkama, by Queen Aibbey—Kakama by Soult. He? is owned by his breeder, Dr Blundell, of Te Awamutu and trained by Alex Cook. A MjUD LARK Rakanui, winner of the Avondale Cup, is by Hunting Song—Golden Opportunity. He won the HaAvke's Bay C'ujs this year, running the, mile And a quarter in 2.61-5 sees, and at the Wanganui meeting this month led from start to finish in the Higgie Handicap. On Saturday = he relished the heavy track, and was never in danger of being beaten. NEARLY READY Just a little short of tip-top racing condition the Hunting Song— Mis Louis three year old, Prince Louis, just failed to win the Champion Plate after cutting out the running all the way. He should not be long in adding to his winning account. IMPROVING Te Kawiti ran sufficiently well in the Avondale Cup to draw attention to his early prospects'. He has been executing really good work at Takanini, and when he races on a comparatively firm track should at least be "in the money." HE WAS QUITE READY Recent reports from the Queen City were to the effect that as Route March had not been taken up very long he was yet short of work. In the Flying Handicap at the Avondale meeting the Vaalsi —Royal March gelding led from the starting barrier right to the winning post, so apparently he was quite ready.. MAXOWN MAKES GOOD The General Latour —Rikoriko gelding Maxown, has now commenced to make good, and this in the jumping division. He has not been at all a success on the flat, for last season in 23 starts he won once onliy. At the AVondale meeting he won the two hurdle races in a manner that betokens further successes over the obstacles. A WIN FOR WANGANUI Ainigoi, who scored a win in the Plump ton Handicap at Avondale, \s one of the famous Beau Pere family, and his dam is the Wanganui mare Adorable. He carried top weight, and in fighting out a great finish with Te Kawiti, showed his gameness. WELL RIDDEN Expellant, excellently ridden by V. Dye broke his run of minor placings by winning the President's Han dicap in really good style. He is now right at the top of his form. STRUCK FORM Regal Fax, who was not quite /eady when he raced at Thames was improved in condition when he competed at the Pakuranga fixture, was produced ■ cherry ripe for the New Lynn Handicap, which he Avon very convincingly. He is a fine type of racehorse and should do well this season. - ■ THE FIRST DINK Dash o' Dink, winner of the Nursery Handicap at Avondale, is the first two year old by Dink toi score rt victory. He was bred and is owned by Miss Eldmonds, of Otahului, and judging bj- her fine turn of speed should be a good turf proposition.
