"I COULD A TALE UNFOLD"

CALM ENGLISH CONFIDENCE Recently Mr J. H. Edmundson, of Napier, received from Birmingham r* copy of the Chamber of Commerce Year Book.. This was a remarkably fine production, quite up to the usual high standard of similar British publications and further illustrated the calm determination of the jjeaple of Birmingham in carrying on despite the adverse conditions of war. Mr Edmundson wrote to the president, Mr John H. Allen, complimenting him on the high standard of the publication and the courageous spirit displayed by the people of Birmingham, and in reply has received a letter of acknowledgment in which the following brief but typical passage occurs:— "I could a tale unfold with regard toi the happenings of the last 12 months. Suffice it, however, at this juncture, to say that a quiet confidence animates us all. It necessarily follows that the aggressor is first off the mark and, as our Prime Minister has. said, the mills of God grind, slowly. We believe that retribution is on the way and we are working for it."
