HAPPY EVENT ON SATURDAY

.FANCY HAT COMPETITION

About 250 children of town and ■district gathered at the Winter .•Show Hall on Saturday to spend a happy afternoon at a Fancy Hat 'Party organised by the 1 committee •of Red Cross workers supporting Mrs Crapp's Group. Although it was Unfortunate that the wet weather jnade it impossible to hold the parade througji the town the young •ones found the programme arranged for them full of entertainment. At the haM fun was, at its height when Mr P. Dixon in clown's array all highly amused, his antics .proving very popular, while Mi HauesleT, as announcer, had dressed •himself in a fashion which delighted .the children. The Boys' Band and J\lrs Armstrong provided music for •dancing and games, which were arranged and supervised by Mrs F. W. ILysaght. At the conclusion of the programme a High Tea was served by a strong committee of ladies which catered for. the requirements of the -children in splendid fashion.
