Australia will not lack for airmen in the future. In addition "ten thousands of young men on the Royal Australian Air Force Reserve list waiting to be called up, there 1 are thousands of potential airmen between the ages of 16 and 17% years clamouring to join a newly-introduc-ed Air Cadet Corps. The cadet corps scheme aims give prei-enlistment instruction which Avill shorten the term of training when they graduate, by age, to the. R.A.A.F. The cadets are: required to give an undertaking to .join the, R.A.A.F. when the initial course is completed and they are called upon. Training classes will be held two nights each week, and on alternate Sundays. The syllabus will include; mathematics, elementary science., drill, recognition of aircraft, and theory of flight. In New South Wales alone it is planned to have a cadet corps of 6000 cadets and 300 officers. Ten squadrons will be in Sydney, two in Newcastle, and 10 in country districts. Elach squadron will consist of 200 cadets. Flights, each of 50 cadcits, will be formed in State and denominational secondary schools. They Avill be attached to the squadron nearest the schoeJ. Formation of the Sydney squadron has begun. Six squadron leaders, all of whom had combat service in the air during the last Avar, have been appointed. On the first day of enlistment for cadets more than 100 youths asked for application forms. Tn the two fed lowing days 400 more sought particulars.
