APPEAL TO CLOSE

ALL PURPOSES FUND WHAKATANE IN EXCESS OF QUOTA At the meeting of Zone K Whakatane Borough and County Patriotic Committee on Saturday it was announced that the All Purposes Appeal is to close on September 30, and that the next appeal will be considered at the Provincial Council meeting to be held on November 3. It was also stated that the Provincial Council had decided that where a quota was oversubscribed the excess would be credited to the next appeal. Thus the Auckland province will have nearly £50,000 in hand as with its quota fixed i>t £250, the total sum of about £295,000 has been raised. The Whakatane area is also in excess of its quota and Avill have a "flying start" for the next effort.
