"THAT AERODROME"
Sir,—"Keep Trying" rather amazed me by his statement per Beacon 3rd inst., that responsible local gentlemen expressed pleasure thai
they are not burdened with the cost of acquiring an aerodrome just noAv. Surely that statement is erroneous. No cnc could imagine that responsible persons could be sr> short-sighted. The securing of a site for flying purposes is a national necessity and I feel certain that the Government would only, be too pleased to assist in a practical and financial manner. O'lir town of Whakatane is in a key position in the Bay of Plen,ty area and no one with any semblance of common sense can deny that flying services will not be of first importance as a means of transportation in the very near future. Meantime land values will not be getting lower and surely it would be a wise investment all round to hop to it while the going is good. Who is public spirited enough to give a lead. Yours etc., "A" PILOT.
