EVENING AT AWAKERI
MR AND MRS M. PEiNNfY
Friends of Mr and Mlrs M< Penny gathered at their home Awakeri last Friday evening for the purposs of extending to them their best wishes for the future and a warm welcome home. The evening passed happily in sovigs, items and general entertainment, selections by the Whakatane Pipe P.and being greatly appreciated. Following a dainty supper served by the ladies present, Mr J. Graham, speaking on behalf of the Ajwakeri residents, said that the Penny faro* ilv had been, associated with, the | districts progress over a long period, and it was a great pleasure to welcome home Mr and Mrs PennyJunior and to extend to them their weilwishes. He trusted that they would have a long and* happy life in their midst. A presentation on behalf of the Pipe Band (of which Mr Penny is a popular member) was? also made after which all present joined ii> musical honours, 1
