THAT AERODROME
Sir, —The messed-up opportunity to acquire, with Government assistance, an aerodrome and a statement made by responsible local gentlemen, expressing pleasure that they are not burdened with cost of same just now, does not speak well of their farsightedness to grasp 2very opportunity to advance with the times. They failed, not only to lay out a necessary foundation for the future and in consequence eveU little Maketu is to have an aerodrome, but they also failed to consider the return of our boys froa* overseas, to whom we owe, at least fair facilities to apply their knowledge of ground work and flying— n knowledge that they must have an outlet for. The crash at Oliope on Saturday is only a reminder of a sadlyi lacking effort on our part to still keep trying to acquire the means of safe landings for commercial or anyother type of aircraft, and if the local bodies kept pegging away instead of shelving this necessity, I know that they would receive al* the support of our. they required. ' Yours etc., KEEP TRYING.
