CHEESE CHANGE-OVER
BEFORE THE END OF
SEPTEMBER
DEPENDENT UPON EQUIPMENT
Discussing the change-over to '-cheese at the annual meeting of the Rangitaiki Dairy Suppliers, the chairman of. directors, Mr \V. A. McCracken, said that the number •affected were 94 farmers in t.he Opouriao area who in the past had supplied 500 tons of butter to the i Rangitaiki factory, and 140 in near-eastern area who had supplied 80tf tons. The result would very materially effect the output figures in future. On the other hand it was; estimated that the new supplies of cheese would be equivalent to 1000 at Opouriao, and 1600 tons at the new Faroa factory now being constructed. The totals were thus 1300 tons, of butter which would be diverted to make 2600 tons of cheese. "I have heard many queries as to when the change-over will tak2 placjj;"- said Mr McCracken, "but I can fyojy state that there is no definite date at all. We hope to be operating before the end of September, and if certain units arrive in time, about .the 20th September. We will not however be able to lake over all the new suppliers at once. That would be impossible at first. We will do the thing gradually and work up to the full volume by employing double shifts. I can assure all farmers who are effected that we will let them knoAV as soon as possible, when they -are expccteoj to commence their supply.
