"I think we can congratulate 'ourselves on the fact that this year we have had a record as far as butter output is concerned," said Mr W. A. McCracken, chairman of the Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Company, at the annual meeting of suppliers at Edgecumbe yesterday. "There were 5103 tons manufactured which constituted an increase of 496 tons on last year, or approximately 10 per cent. The increase was due -to favourable climatic conditions and' the Childness of lastt winter." The meeting, though the attendance was smaller than usual, was less contoversial and its general "tenor may be perhaps drawn from the remarks of Mr R. E. Blair, the manager, who stated that he had been impressed with the general goodwill which was voiced by 'the speakers, as existing between the suppliers, the directors and the -staff. Chairman's Report In his rex'ort Mr . McCracken -dealt with the items as under:— Quality: 23,879,747.51bs of cream were received and were graded as follows: Superfine 67.43 per cent. First Grade 32.15 per cent, and Second Grade .42 per cent. The butter • manufactured therefrom graded: Finest 73.15 per ccnt, First 'Grade 26.21 per cent, and Second Grade .64 per cent. Buildings and Plant: During th:* year additions" amounting to Os 5d Avere made to Edgecumh? buildings' and factory plant,. Dfi preciation on the Company's usual sound basis has been provided for. The director* arc most appreciative of the generous and loyal manner in which both cream and milk supplierShareholders have responded to the call for increased cheese production and intimated their willingness to work and share together on a truly co-operative basis. The dividend as recommended was endorsed by the meeting, while Mr Miles Hamill Avas re-appointed auditor for a further term at r« lee of a hundred guineas. The chairman's honorarium Avas fixed at £200 Avith an alloAvance of £60 for traA'elling expenses, and directors fees at £1 per meeting plus travelling expenses. Messrs E. J. Bell, McDonald and Mullins Avere re-appointed scrutineers. A 'hearty vote of thanks to the chairman, the directors and the staff was moved by Mr X. W.' Sumner and carried by acclamation. Mr McCracken responding said that the year had been a very strenuous one, intensified towards the latter end by the cheese change o\ r er. There Avere many problems' ahead but Avith the co-operation of shareholders, he Avas sure they would be overcome. He trusted that next annual meeting Avould find the Avorld at peace again and a more settled state of affairs prevailing. Mr R. E. Blair, for the staff, returned thanks, adding that Avar condltions had made it difficult to maintain the same employees for long.
