WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

EDGECUMBE MEETING /

The monthly meeting of the Edgecumbe Women's Institute was held on Tuesday. Mrs Learning presided ' over a good and the aft--crnoon was spent in entertainment ■of Scottish character.

The competition "Scottish Towns" was won by Mrs Thomson while another competition was won by Miss •J. Le Lievre. A humorous reading was given by Mirs Thomson. Two Bongs were delightfully sung by Mrs Shaw, and heartily applauded.

The roll call "A Scotch Joke" brought forth some very amusing anecdotes. The Highland Fling and Sword Dance were performed with grace and spirit by four of Mrs Patience's pupils M. Gow, L. Bell, H. McLean and B. Starnes.

Afternoon tea was served by Mrs L.. Wilson, Mrs G. Irving and Mrs

Hearty votes, of thanks were accorded to all who had contributed to the very pleasant afternoon's entertainment and the national Anthem was. sung.
