The Waikato owrted and New Plymouth trained, Nobel Fox. Avas entered to be sold during the National week, but on the morning of the sale Avas Avithdrawn.

WINNINGS OF THE DOZER Previous to winning the Grand National Hurdles The Dozer had won £1800 in stakes, The Riccarton prize money increased the total to £2525, which might have been further added to but for the abandonment of the third day's racing.

During the year the club contributed £620 to the New Zealand War Loan.

TRAINING ON

Good reports are to hand in regard to Royevrus, who is training on satisfactorily at Cambridge. More than likely Our Jean will be retired from the turf at an early date, without racing this season. The trainer, Mr Townsend, has re-commissioned the now three year old, Prince Louis and together with Radiant Vaals, Chain Acre and Sure Pay, may have cfuite a strong team for early spring meetings. TWO GOOD ONES OUT Two well performed Canterbury horses were fatally injured at the Grand National meeting. Dropped Catch was well in the lead in the Hack Steeplechase when he unfortunately crashed, and as he , was vainly endeavouring to get up Son and Heir landed on him and, broke his back. DIFFERENCE IN FORM The Great Northern Hurdles winner, Esperance Baj', had his chance of winning the Grand National Hurdles very highly assessed, and his excellent .schooling work certainly justified his connections in expecting him to fight out the finish with the best engaged. Perhaps the going was not to his liking, for with six furlongs to go he was well beaten and therefore not prominent in the final stages.

KINDERGARTEN AND BEAU VITE

Ample publicity lias been given to the brilliant sprinting efforts ot Kindergarten at Randwick, but' little has been heard of that solid racehorse Beau Vite. However, his owner, Mr Ralph Stewart, of Wellington, has been informed by the trainer. Frank McGrath, that the Beau Pere horse is "doing everything right." WILL COME AGAIN Battlegain, sl;en out v at the Waikato and Auckland winter meetings, who was reputed last month to be very, lame is again working on the Hastings tracks, and it is stated he is quite sound. MODERATE PRICES Friday Night the ten year okl full brother to the great Phar Lap, was sold in Christchurch last week for 200 guineas. Apparently even his stock are not yet valued highly for a two year old (illy by Friday Night was sold at 30gns to Messrs R., and G. Dunlop, of Matamata. KINDERGARTEN WILL BE SOLD Kindergarten is to be sold, according to his owner, Mr EL N. Fitzgerald, who, however, declined further information. "There's a lot in it,'' was his reply when asked if there was anything in the Sydney, story that he had been offered £25,000 for the horse. "Kindergarten Is not sold yet," he added, but he will be sold."
