RACING NOTES
SUNNY KNIGHT FANCIED The Hawke's Bay owned Sunny Knight who is included in the acceptors for the Winter Cup, with £\.O, has quite a good record this season, for lie has won seven races, the last six in succession, and has been placed live times in eighteen starts. MAY NOT BE LONG The Ellcrslic brilliant sprinter Llandaff, who has had a coinparfcn tivcljr easy time this season, is again registering fast work on the training tracks, and has definitely improved in condition since running in the Members' Handicap at the Auckland Winter meeting. For this event he was spiritedly supported, but failed to get away well and left his packers lamenting. He will be expected to make amends in the early spring. A CLASS JUVENILE Among the. class juveniles at Ellerslie is the rising tAvo year old, Flying Drake, Avho is in charge of Ivan Tucker. He is. by Broiefort from Duckling, and comes from the same family as Admiral Drake and Francis Drake. FORWARD IN CONDITION Chcval de Bataille, who was solidly backed for the open sprint at the recent Waipa meeting is executing really good work at Te AXvamutu, and is likely to run prominently, at the Thames and Pakuranga fixtures. FOR RICCARTON Although the majority of T. R. George's brigade arc at Carterton, Trench Law and Rilling Star, who were left at Trentham, will go south for the Grand National meeting. The former, who is in the Winter Cup, has been going along steadily in his preparation. IN LIGHT WORK That good galloper Rovevrus is doing light exercise, at Cambridge, but his trainer, W r . T'ownscnd, is not very confident of the son of Surveyor standing a severe preparation. THREE SUCCESSES ON END The victory of Summons in the Rangitikei Hunt Cup on Saturday made: his third win on end in as many starts this season. The first success was in the Dannevirke Hunt Cup in June, and the following month at the Hawke's Bay meeting he took the Harold Russell Memorial Steeplechase. He is an aged gelding by Sky Blue from Battle F've, and is trained by his owner, Mr G. D. Boatson. WELL BEATEN The Winter Cup candidate Noble Fox, Augment, Royal Star 11, Autolite and Little Robin all failed in the Riddiford Handicap at Mar«ton, not one of them filling a p?ace. That form is not likely to bring them into favour for the Riccarton event this month, although the different scale of weights might bring : about a reversal of tlic Marton form PROMISING GALLOPER Darag, who scored an easy Avin in ' the second division of the Glenmore Maiden at Marton, is 1 a rising four year old by Bulandshar from Thorn- , proof. At his previous start Dai*ag ran a good race to finish third in n e maiden race at Hastings on July , r >. He is trained by J. M. Cameron, who has had some fine gallopers through his hands, notably The HaAvk and Hunting Cry.
