INSUFFICIENT ADHERENTS NEW INSTRUCTION METHODS "Only five people in 20 can go into deep water with confidence and "iijoy themselves," said Mr J. He spoke of the new methods of instruction employed in schools and the work done by swimming and life saving organisations under the Government grant of £3000 made a f'ew
years ago. Under the new methods, he said, children were not expected to learn AA'ithin a short tiime to swim. The methods were more thorough. "The ultimate aim of teachers," he said, "should he to see the chtl'-r drcn able to be put into deefc water with their clothes on and to swnr ashore with confidence."
