Pays Good Dividends. In reply Gr Armstrong said the band was giving service and should be supported. It had. been'said that the band had done nothing, but as vet it had had no chancel. The boys were keen and. would continue to be so to reach the position when they could do more for themselves. He concluded by saying that the extra £32 would be very little spread ovei the borough. "Music is an essential seirvice and pays good dividends." "Not Fair !" Gr Canning also spoke again tie-, preciating "a lot of hot air" from Cr Creeke. He again appealed to the members for their support. "The town needs the band and. we represent the 1 citizens. If we lose then Crs Sullivan and Shapley have beaten vis and the band too and they can take the crdeit for it!" Cr Sullivan: That's not fair Your Worship. Cr Canning: Perhaps not, but tlrtt ts how I feel about it. The £52 will not break the council, but it will break the band. Motion Lost. The motion was then put to the meeting and defeated. Those voting for it were Crs Armstrong, Canning and Mulholland, while Cas Shapley. Sullivan, Creeke, CaLsley, Cummirgs and Good.
