MANPOWER COMMITTEE

SHORT SITTING YESTERDAY A short sitting of the Manpower Committee was held at Whakatane yesterday. Many of tho cases heard concerned men who had volunteered, while in a number of cases decision was: reserved. Mr J. P. Kilbride appealed against the calling of J. G. Johnsons The appeal was adjourned sine die on condition the reservist remained in his present position, continued his training in the Home Guard' arid complied with the conditions of such service. The committee adjourned the appeal sine die so long as the reservist joirthe Home Guard within 14 days I the case to be reviewed in six months ttme. 1 The anneal of Mr D. Allan for hi? j Fliaremilker, P. J. Wigg, was dismissed the reservist not to be called before 1/8/41 and released fronc ' camp not later than 30/10/41.
