Ewe killings now show a d&» crease of 385,816 carcases compared with the previous season, the current total being 1,531,528. Weithevs have declined, by' 692,376, Jhe killings this season totalling 611,129. Details of lamb and mutton production to June 28th, with the corresponding. figures for the, previous season to June 29th) in parentheses are as follows:—• North Island. Wether mutton (C/cs) 513,408 (1,127,858) Ewe mutton 862,118 (1,217,245) Lamb 5,574,779 (5,280,710) South Island. Wether mutton 97.721 ( 175,647) FKve mutton 669,410 ( 700,099) Lamb 5,396,331 (5,073,062) Frozen beef production has reached 655,251 quarters compared with 659,670. Porker killings (209,136 in the North Island, and 7953 in the South) total 217,089, showing an increase of 125,563 carcases. Baconer killings were as follows: North Island 280,064 (compared with 313,285); South Island 9180 (11,967) a decrease this? season of 36,008 carcass. Killings of choppers total 10,197 being a decrease of 945. Killings or other classes of meat expressed in 601b weight carcases were as follows, with the figures for the previous season to approximately the same date shown in parentheses :— Boneless beef 664,096 (823,463) Boneless bobby veal 86,509 ( 69*,772) Sundries 409,210 (442,993)
