FANCY DRESS DANCE

EVENT AT MANAWAHE The Manawahe hall, gaily decorated with streamers and nikau palms, was a colourful scene Avhen the W.W.S.A. held its Fancy Dress Dance. The many different costumes created much interest and also amusement. A Euchre Tournament was also held. Excellent music was supplied by Mr Plank extras being played by Mrs Dixon and Mrs Brown. Prizes went to : Miss Stark (Mor-« rinsville) for the; Ladies' Best Dress (shepherdess), Miss Shirley Hols! (Sister) second prize, Mr Arnold Fenton (Boozer) Gent's firsit prize, Mr Laurence Kendall (Pop Eye) Gent's second prize. Mrs MaaP'hcrson and Mr Ken King won the Euchre Tournament, consolation prizes going to Miss R. Higgins fend Mrs Tom King. Monte Carlo winners were Mrs R. Fenton and Mr Arnold Fenton. The raffle went to Mr L. Rendall. Other fancy dresses were: Mrs R. Withy (Little Old Lady); Miss mont (Russian Dancer); Miss Appleby (Irish Colleen); Miss Mo Arthur (Hula); G. Relf (Half and Half Man and Woman); M. Logan (St. Moritz Skater); N. King (Wait ress); J. Erskine (Pierette); J. Mikkelsen (Gipsy); I. Mikkelsen (Night); N. Elivers (Queen of Hearts); D. Elvers (Bridesmaid); L. Rendall (Russian Skater); 1. Fenton _(Hard-up); H. Fenton (Sail' or); M. Kane (Gipsy). Messrs R. Withy (Wee Willie Winkie); P. Appleby (Blackout); R. Rimmer (Hitler); B. Kane (Ku Klux Klan): P. Kane (Tramp); E. Erskine (Mexican); L. Erskine (C)ief); L. Rendali (Sir Walter Raleigh); M. Rendall (Bluebeard); G. King (Cowboy): R. Rendall (Cowboy); A. Theobald (Cowboy). Miss McArthur gave an exhibition of the Hula.
