FAREWELL EVENING
FUNCTION AT AWAKERI On June 24 a farewell was tendered in the Awakeri Hall to Mr and Mrs T. Fowell and family who are leaving to take up residence in the Matamata district. The popularity of the; guests of the evening was) reflected in the largest attendance that has been seen in the local hall for some time. The function was an; eel lent success in every way. During the evening Mr Villis, who acted as M.C., on behalf of those present, handed to Mr and Mrs Fowell a substantial cheque and wished them a happy stay in their new where. Mr Villis referred particularly to the great help Mr Fowell had ahvays given to football in the district. He said also that Mrs Fowell had been a tireless worker at social functions and that she would therefore be greatly missed. Mr Fowell. replied briefly, thanking those present and saying that he had had 110 idea that his friends were so numerous. Anything he had done to assist with the football had given him much pleasure.
