FUNDS COMING IN
CASUALTY CLEARING STATIONS THREE HUNDRED POUNDS NEEDED Thet sum of £300 is needed for the establishment of the five district Casualty Clearing Stations which are proposed under the Emergency Precautions Scheme. Already portion of this sum is to hand but most of it has yet to be subscribed, and the appeal in to-day's leader sets out the objective and the details of the scheme which is being promoted by the Medical sub-committee and sponsored by the Women's War Service Auxiliary. Method of Raising Funds. Alresidy district organisations of the W.W.S.A. are busy with the work of raising money. At Waimana last Saturday a stall on the football ground netted £10* which was handefcl into the E.P.S. secretary, Mr C. G. Lucas. The same committee announces that Mr H. Bell will be devoting the proceeds of a picture programme, on June 24 j to the same cause, and will run a. further benefit night for the E.P.S. and Home Guards Waimana is also busy arranging details of a Miad Hatter's Dance to be held on July 3. No one can accuse this district of not pulling its weight. The Local Effort. In Whakatane it is the intention of the committee of the W.W.S.A. to promote special efforts which will be designed to meet with the maximum public support. Apart from social efforts the subscription list will be opened at the BEACON and donations acknowledged from time to time. While the BEACON will acknowledge all contributions it Ist necessary for donors to note that money should be paid direct by them to the County Office, to Mr Lucas who as treasurer, will issue receipts.
