"Then will come the clash of millions of men over the main issue, and a gigantic fight to finish the conflict. "In the meanwhile, we in the Dominion must realise, that tremendous changes will follow the war. Just what form they would take we cannot imagine, but an entirely new order should come about. "Preparation for the changed conditions should be begun now, for at the termination of hostilities communities Avill be obsessed with thoughts of hatred and revenge, and in no mood to assess properly the real essentials for a lasting peace." Mr C. B. Michie (Kaitaia) pointed out that NeJw Zealand had not yet felt the full extent of the buffeting that must come with a continuation of the Avar. The testing time, he said, Avas still to come, and AA'lien it did the country Avould be dependent upon the farmers to maintain sufficient stability to save the economy of the Dominion from disaster.
