* TANEATUA DEFEATS WHAKATANE LOCAL SIDE'S FIRST RUN With the D., Coy of tho Whakatane Home Guard taking the field for its first run on Saturday not very bright Rugby was seen when the visiting Taneatua fifteen proved too fit and won by 13 points to nil. The game was hard fought throughout, but bright only in places, the home side lacking cohesion while their spoiling tactics, made the going difficult for the visiting rearguard. The teams fielded wera:— Wliakatane : Rangikotua, P. Merito, B. Mjerito, W. Merito, J. Merito, Patoro, B. Nuku, L. Keepa, R. Tajrlor, M. Nuku, T. Tunui, H. Hui, K. Merito, H. Stowall, M. Mason. Taneatua : Sykes, Sellars, Rore, Sisam, Old, Thompson, Winters, Hillman, Mika, Wharerema, Dunstan, D. Old, Windle, A. Dunstan, Mitchell. The winners points came from a penalty by Thompson, a try by Sellars which Sykes converted and a try by Thompson who also added the major points. Mr F.
