THE PIPE BAND
Sir, —I wish to thank -your correspondent for frankly revealing that "Wake Up Pipe Band" is a "la.dyv an admirer of the true Scot, and a lov- , er of the bagpipes/' lam 100 per cent Scot (have no admirers at present) also a 3over of bagpipes,, naturally" I will defend 'thie pipe band against any '"Sweetie Wife" who as "Common Sense" suggests, has ai* axe to grind. Her letter is good propaganda against the bagpipes she lovesi so much. I'm afraid she her information from the wrong quarter. It was no surprise to me about the "supposed" two "full'* weeks notice of coming events. 1 admit the two Anzac parades were discussed at the same meeting, but she still hasn't' answered my question. How much notice did the band get from Whakatane ? Opotiki seems to rankle under her skin, she must remember that the pipe band had to rush to fee on lime for two parades, on Anzac Day . As regards the mis&» ing .drum, surely "WakV Up" must be running short of ammunition. Drums are kulk;jr-luggage in a car and had to-be unloaded to/allow two passengers to alight, unfortunately one was. ovterlookfd, being'no fault • of the drummer who was in tlv* driver's seat. I think "Wake Up* \youkl be l in a trance, as she suggests, with the thought of rep'acing a drum, the drummer only did his duty, he< paraded, arid should be complimented instead of ridiculed. Yours etcu SPORRAN 1 .
Sir,—l- would like to thank all these people whose attention has been concentrated on our Pi pa Band, Caledonian Society' and their doings. You don't know, what a thrill it gives me to hear and see that all those folks who aren't Scottish bornwanting. to advertise the- only band that Whakatarie can boast of. Nothing succeeds like success, and we can take it like ail true Scots Yours etc., - A CALEDONIAN BORN.
