WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

EDGECUMBE MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Edge-, cumbe Women's Institute was; held on Tuesday la.;t. took the form of a "Mother's Day/" the wife of one and the mothers of other men serving with the H. MForces being the guests of honour. The meeting opened with a prayer and singing of the Ode to Friendship, A small posy and basket of siweets was presented to Mrs C. A. Le Lievre, Mrs Glodsmith, Mrs Hall, Mirs Villis, Mrs Pearce and Mrs Snellirig, with the good wishes of the committee. Mrs Le Lievre thanked the president and committee, for the ltindlv thought and gifts. It was decided to donate two parcels in the next Patriotic quota foi soldiers overseas. Mrs Hodson gave a most interesting and comprehensive report of the Council meeting held recently (n Whakatane,, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The Rev. J. 11. Starnes then gave a most interesting and humorous talk on Bolivia. This was much enjoyed and the speaker accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs C'ole, Mrs Hodson and Miss Pepper- | ell. The meeting closed with the j National Anthem.
