PERSONAL
Mr A. E.; Bird, formerly of Okahukura School, near Taumarunui, has been appointed head teacher of Thornton School, in succession tc Mr Parker, who left during last term to become head teacher at Mokai, near Taupo. Mr and Mrs Bird arrived during the week and have taken up residence in the school house- No doubt they will find the Bay of Plenty winter climate more genial than that of their, recent home in the mountainous central area of the North Island.
