KING'S BIRTHDAY
HOLIDAY DATE OBSERVANCE THIS YEAR No. dispatch has been received from the United Kingdom Government on the question of the observance of the King's Birthday as a public holiday in New Zealand on some other dare than the first Moilday in June this yean Last year, shorlly before the first Monday in June, an amending provision was made as a war emergencv measure in respect of the obs&«d| ance of the birthday for that 3 T the holiday being transferred from' the first Monday in June to November 25. Sports bodies and others who have made inquiries on the subject havu been advised by the Department of Internal Affairs that it has no knowledge of any similar proposal this pear, and that in terms of the Sovereign's Observance Act. 1937, the birthday of his Majesty King George VI will be observed on Monday, June 2.
