ANNUAL REPORT The outstanding features of the report of the A.M.P. Society which was read at the annual general meeting were as follows:—• 1. The Valuation of the Liabilities under the whole of the Society's Policy contracts has been based on an interest date of 3 per cent per annum. 2. The Investment cies Reserve Funds have* been increased by £500,000 to £3,000,000, provision for Accrued Taxation has been increased by £200, 000 to £500. - 000, and the book values of the Office Premises and other Assets have been further written down by a sum of £244,140 7s 7d. In addition, the special Reserve for Contingencies made in the Valuation Balance Sheet of the Ordinary Department has been increased by £850,000 to £1,500, 000* 3. The Business in Fores (Numbers of Policies) has increased: Ordinary Department from £640,097 to £657,904; Industrial Department from £886,441 to £927,778. Total £1,526,538 to £1,585,682. 4. The Business in Force (Original Sums Assured) has increased : Ordinary Department from £260,794,103 to £268,587,456; Industrial Department from £51,382,705 ta £53850,514. Total £312,176,808 to £322438,370. 5. The Business in Force (Original Sums Assured and Bonuses) has increased : Ordinary Department from £320,778,146 to £329,046,858; Industrial Department from £54,809*565 to £56, 948, 884 .i Total £375087,711 to £385,9195,742. 6. The total of the Assets has increased from £122,495,075 to £128,645,170. 7. Taxes amounted to £380,184. ~BT The, Cash Surplus Divided (including bonuses) amounted to £2, - 079,576 in the Ordinary Department and £409,717 in the Industrial Department—a total of £2,489,293. 9. The New Business amounted to £23,011,655 (Ordinary Department £16,927,863. Industrial Department £6,083,792.)
Overseas Appeal Board. The Overseas Appeal Board is to sit at Whakatane. on Wednesday 21 and Friday 23.
