RURAL HOUSING SCHEME
Sir, —I was aitrazed to read in your 'issue of the "Beacon" dated May 14, a letter under the heading "Omataroa Riding," and siigned H. C. McCready in which lie. states: "/The Rural Housing Scheme -should be still regarded :rrhtcvpayers, as it is yet possible thougli not probable that the scheme could be reconsidered and adopted." In making this statement Mir McCready has, unwittingly cast a doubt in the integrity of his brother councillors, and I feel sure this is -an impression he never intended to convey. I wish to state most emphatically, in fairness to the oth>cr members of the County Council that the Ruraf Housing Scheme.-was definitely and finally dealt with at -■a meeting of the Council held in October last, when it was abandoned. (Continued next column)
I feel that ratepayers throughout the County should be reminded of this fact. Yours etc., J. L. BURNETT,, Chairman W.C.C.
