DESIGN FOR BRITISH POTTERY Thistles plucked from the Queen's birthplace have been, used for the design of ona of the new table services on which British potters arc tiow working overtime to meet the Dominions' demand. "Glamis Thistle," is' rivalling favourites from over the border like "Old Chelsea," "Lowestoft Bouquet" "English Posy,» "Old Leaf Spray," and "Rosetime." Canada is leading the Dominions' demand for design, and colour schemes in the tradition of the home country. Eccentricities have gonn out of fashion, Tableware is sc;nt to Canada in large composite sets appropriate for the three meals of the day. Tureens are deep and so are "side dish" saucers which follow the Victorian shapes. In 1939 Canada alone bough!, from Britain two and* a half million dollars' worth of such goods and since the beginning of last year the Largest maker of them has increased. exports.' by 75 per cent despite a '--isit from Goering's, Luftwaffe.
