So the tAvo farmers, with their solicitors, attended before the judge in order to decide the true owner, but it Avas left to Jenny herself to ffolve the problem. A lorry Jc«id of heifers was brought to the yard of the courthouse, and the farmer Avho had said the animal Avas Jenny picked h?r out from all the others. She was then taken to a quiet c6rn,er of the yard, Avlicre the cowman donned the coat he AAears Avhen feeding the cows and began to pat and rub lenny's neck. The animal recognised him instantly, passed her nose; up the back of his coat, and suddenly put her fore legs on his shoulders —the onl3 r Avay in Avhich shet could shake hands! It Avas an exhibition aygi-thy of circus, and dreAv much applause from onlookers. All doubt Avas now dispelled. The evidence Avas so convincing that there wias no need fru legal argument, and the judge'declared that Jenny had given, her evidence in a manner as eloquent as any human Avitness he had: ever seen in the box. The two farmers shook hands and went home the best of friends.
