WEDDING BELLS

PERKINS—SOUTAR

A pretty wedding was solemnised at St- George's Church, Whakatane, on Saturday, between Alice Dorecn Soutar and Air Gunner Francis Dudley Perkins, of the R.N.Z.A.F., the officiating minister being the Rev. S. G. Caulton. The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. Mrs A. Bridger was at the organ and Mrs Berry beautifully sang a solo. The bride who was escorted by her uncle, Mr E. Gaitt, wore a graceful gown of the palest pink crinkle georgette cut with a high neckline and long bell shaped sleeves gathered in to a tiny cuff. The corsage and sleeves being daintily embroidered in a slightly deeper shade of wee pink flowers. Her veil of shell pink tulle worn over the face Avas caught with a topnot of pink cactus dfilias and in graceful folds to Ihe hem of the skirt. She carried a dainty sheaf of pink dahlias and chrysanthemums and maiden hair fern. Mrs P. Lea, of Auckland, attended the bride of Honour. She, wore q , w£r*l|urui gown of pastel blue georgette appliqued in a deeper shade to form satin flowers, she also wore a circular viel of blue tulle caught with a topnot ct lemon dahlias and carried a sheaf of lemon dahlias and chrysanthemums. Mr K. Jarrett ably assisted the bridegroom as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Commercial Hotel, where the tables were tastefully arranged in colours toning with die bridal gown. The bride's mother received her guests wearing a navy blue tailored suit with a navy felt hat. She wore a shoulder spray of deep blue pansies. Assisting her was Mrs E. Gaitt the bride's Aunt, who wore a black and white ensemble with a black felt. hat ami shoulder spray of deer) red roses. The bridal couple left on a motor tour, the bride wearing a tailored black and white crossed check woollen frock with black furs and black beaver felt hat. They carried with them the good wishes of their many friends.
